2009 Garden State Lacrosse Challenge

Tryouts will be the week of June 8th

Regional Seeding games Tuesday and Wednesday, June 16 and 17
North: Tues, Wed June 16th and 17th 4:00-7:00pm at Madison HS
South: Tues, Wed June 16th and 17th 4:00-7:00pm at Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Mount Holly, NJ 08034

Final games on Thursday, June 18 th
Tentative site: North Hunterdon high school

Our Vision To be recognized in the lacrosse community as an annual, must-attend event for collegiate lacrosse coaches, to discover the elite lacrosse talent that the state of New Jersey has to offer.

Our Mission To provide the top New Jersey high school lacrosse players,  a high-caliber all-star experience at a low cost, while at the same time providing an outlet for collegiate coaches to observe, evaluate, and eventually recruit these student athletes for their respective lacrosse programs.

Our Goal To annually conduct a highly competitive, round robin lacrosse showcase, that offers a rewarding experience for all participants and collegiate coaches, providing a best-in-class information resource that is considered an invaluable tool for collegiate lacrosse player recruiting.

2009 Objectives  

• Provide the opportunity for all individuals who choose to participate to have a positive experience regardless of their selection to one of the area teams.
• Field area teams every year with the highest level of high school lacrosse talent available in the state of New Jersey.
• Offer all participants who participate the opportunity to present their personal, academic, and athletic credentials to all the collegiate coaches who attend the event or who request the information.
• Provide on-line registration to all participants, players, and collegiate coaches, via the New Jersey Lacrosse Foundation’s website: www.njlacrosse.org and capture player profile information, necessary to accurately represent their individual credentials.
• Provide all attending collegiate coaches, with a binder complete with player profile information on every individual who participated in the Garden State Lacrosse Challenge games.
• For those collegiate coaches who cannot attend the event, a game DVD at a cost of $25.00 will be available. To ensure that all collegiate coaches receive their player profile information package, the NJ Lacrosse Foundation recommends that all interested coaches register for this event.

2009 Garden State Games Format:

· GSC will expand in 2009 to ten teams: 5 teams in the North and 5 teams in the South.

· Seeding Games: 5 teams in each region play to decide seeding for playoffs #1 thru #5.

· Five games will be played (all 10 teams) Thursday, June 18 th…#1 North vs #1 South, #2 vs #2, etc.

Participant Requirements The Garden State Lacrosse Challenge Games are open to boys entering grades 10-12 as of September 2009 (Post Grads and 5 th year players are not eligible). Players must tryout in order to make the team. Anyone wishing to tyrout for the games MUST  be a member of US Lacrosse.  If you are not a member of US Lacrosse, please click here to obtain membership information or call US Lacrosse directly ay 410-235-6882 x102.  You must provide proof of membership at the time of registration, in order to tryout for the games. Any falsification of a US Lacrosse membership on any registration form will automatically disqualify a player from participating in the games.

Participants will tryout for a regional team, based upon the participants HOMETOWN Region. See below for the Regional Breakdown. Please note that if your town or school is not listed, you should tryout for the team in the region in which you live.

All New Jersey High School coaches are encouraged to get involved in the games.

Regional Breakdown and Tryout Information

Athletes that are interested in participating in the Garden State games will sign up and pay a Non-refundable $40 tryout fee online. NO Walk-up Registrations!

All Athletes that tryout will receive a numbered reversible jersey representing their region.
